With all our Self Drive Road Trips your car hire includes mandatory third party liability insurance and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP) insurances. This cover, provided by the car rental company, carries a non-waivable amount (NWA) or excess amount and is the amount you’ll have to pay if your vehicle is damaged or stolen. In Iceland this can be as much as £1500 or more in the case of 4WD hire, so should you be involved in an accident, you would be liable for first £1,500 of any damage irrespective of whether you were at fault or not. There are also restrictions  windscreen & tyre damage. For comprehensive cover and complete peace of mind we recommend taking a policy with insurance4carhire.com   which provides cover including for windows, undercarriage, roof, tyres and headlights which are generally not covered by rental company policies.   (And yes, Terms & Conditions apply; we’ll tell you about them when you book).
