the lynx foot of Norway, a wall of ivory capped mountains, a coastline warmed by the Gulf Stream Drift, scatterings of kaleidoscope coloured fishing villages, an off shore deep water coral reef, a cornucopia of birdlife, mountain hugging clusters of ash & birch, home of Edgar Alan Poe’s Maelstrom( Moskstraumen), traditional skreimolje suppers to die for and all over flown by sea eagles and cormorants.
a child of the British Empire Joanna spent part of her childhood in British Malaysia and was given an illustrated book of the Aurora Australis at a reception party for the Queen’s Coronation. Thus was borne a lifelong fascination with the Aurora which culminated in her debut as a travel presenter with the BBC programme ‘In Search of the Northern Lights’. Continue to Å with its cluster of mustard and rust coloured buildings sheltered from the Atlantic by vertiginous rock faces before stopping at Vitken for a demonstration of a local glass blower’s art. Later in the evening feast on foraged vegetable soup followed by lamb and wolf fish accompanied by the Goddess Idunn’s apples in a Viking style long house at Loftr with Northern Lights spotting from both there and on the return to Svolvaer.
after breakfast leave for Kabelvag for a close up and personal session with two of Lofoten’s semi aquatic mammals: otters and seals. Guide prices are in part based on our mid-level contract air fares which are veriable in real time unlike our ground supplier contract costs which are generally fixed. We don’t do fancy lead in prices and the time you confirm your booking always use the lowest air fare available. This may mean the confirmed price of your holiday being slightly less or more than the guide price in which case a proportionate reduction-supplement will apply. Carpe Diem = the earlier you book the better, especially for public & school holidays.
