Experience what life is like for the locals exploring Tromsø's surrounding landscapes and the spectacular Lyngen Alps by snowmobile and snowshoe.  And our highlight of the trip?? Sleep in a Crystal Lavvo, a modern version of a traditional Sami tent, and gaze at the skies through its glass ceiling.

Hotel Aurora Tromso

Bang in the centre of the city on Sjøgata just 250 yards from the quaysided is perfect for a time limited stay. The hotel has a choice of rooms ranging from 'moderate' doubles at 14m2, standard doubles at 20m2 and superior ones with tea/coffee making facilities, bathrobes, a large, soft, extra pillow and bath tub. All room types have a flat screen cable TV, WI-FI and beds in all cases are 160cm. At any time between 3 and 6pm you'll find waffles, tea & coffee free, gratis and for nothing and between 6 & 9pm a light supper. The hotel's star feature is a roof top hot tub from which you might just a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Franceso's Lyngen Alps Home

Francesco's House is by a fjord in the foothills of the Lyngen Alps facing north west for maximum Aurora viewing. Rooms in the villa have Jensen beds, a coffee grinder or you can stay in one of his more rudimentary glass roofed igloos with a wood burning stove and outside loos just a couple of metres away. Matresses and bedding are the same as in the house.

1st Day UK- Tromso

fly direct to Tromso in Arctic Norway, transfer to the city centre and check in at the Hotel Aurora which will be your base in Tromso. Take a light evening buffet supper at the hotel and then soak up your destination in the hotel's rooftop outdoor hot tub.

2nd Day Snowmobiling & Aurora Searching

After breakfast leave for the Lyngen Alps and Francesco Damm's villa. He will kit you out in thermal clothing, give you a short safety breifing and handling tuition and take you up by snowmobile alongside the fjord and mountain plateau above the villa. After lunch you can either snow shoe in the locality or just take in the awe inspiring serenity of the vertiginous mountans before supper at the villa. In the early evening you'll have a short northern Lights photo workshop, collect a tripod and set off on your seacrh for the Northern Lights Spend the night in a Crystal Lavvo and enjoy great Aurora views straight from your bed.

3rd Day Husky Mushing & Aurora Searching

After a breakfast of scrambled aggs & salmon head back to the city and discover the city made famous originally as a trading port for hunters and trappers, then as the starting point for Amundsen, Nobile & Nansen’s expeditions to the North Pole. Begin your adventure on the Fjellheisen cable car which whisks you to the top of Mount Storsteinen more than 400 metres above the city for a gob smacking panoramic view of the city and its adjacent islands. Take a light lunch at the middle station’s Fjellstua Café before the 4 minute ride back down to the Arctic Cathedral; walk through the historical Skansen area close to the Polar museum and visit the iconic Arctic Cathedral. In the evening, chase the Northern Lights together with your husky team with the night silence disturbed only by the sound of the dogs.

4th day Tromso - UK

Check out of your hotel late morning and transfer to Langnes airport for your return flight back to the UK.

We don’t do fancy lead in prices and at the time you confirm your booking always use the lowest air fare available.
