Your Adventure

A long weekend enjoying two exquisitely beautiful Scandi Capitals: Stockholm with its medieval Old Town and beyond chic restaurants and Helsinki where Russian and Finnish influences kaleidoscopically collide. Linking them together is an overnight cruise between the two, sailing through the almost continuous island archipelago that sprawls across the Baltic from Sweden to Finland.

What’s Special about This

The Baltic and Scandinavian capitals literally spring to life in the summer months and there’s probably nowhere else in the world where cities are linked by sea routes joining up the parts others can’t reach. Go to sleep in one city and wake up in another; enjoy Fika (Coffee) in Gamla Stan a buffet supper sailing through the archipelago and a boulevard lunch in Helsinki. We know everywhere like the back of our hand so can make certain you have the best of times. We give you a detailed timed itinerary and a personal viva briefing on the ‘must sees’ in each city. Plus we've worked with Silja Liners for longer than we care to remember so what we doon't know about the cabins and ships isn’t worth knowing.

Hotel Reisen

A classic hotel dating back to the 18th century famed for its unique location on the water's edge in Gamla Stan (The Old Town). A special feature here is the sauna on the hotel's top floor from where you have staggering views out over the city. All 144 rooms are elegantly furnished with trad drapes, mahogony wood facings and lots of exposed brick work lending everything a maritime feel. Each has a private WC/shower/bath, TV, mini bar, telephone, hair dryer and safe.

Seurahuone Hotel

Possibly the only hotel in the world with a 5 pillow menu: a unique choice of a synthetic filled firm one and medium & soft ones with either down or synthetic filings. A far cry from 1914 when the hotel in its second incarnation opened to plaudits for having running hot water and telephones in all rooms. Each advance though, speaks to the hotel’s timeless pursuit of elegance, style and occupant comfort which the most recent renovation in 2006 spectacularly continued, melding Carl Ludvig Engel’s neo classical legacy with contemporary style. Superbly central for a short stay, the hotel is opposite Helsinki’s landmark granite central rail station, 300m from the airport bus terminal and perhaps more importantly just round the corner from the Karl Fazer Café. All our rooms come with (of course) private WC/shower or a bath tub (your choice), LCD TV, security safe, hair dryer, coffee/tea set, WI-FI and a telephone updated from those in 1914. Not forgetting the pillows.

1st Day UK – Stockholm

fly scheduled airline to the Swedish capital Stockholm and self-transfer to the center and your hotel. take the bulk of the day to explore the city. The Old Town is a must see as is the Vasa warship museum for a dose of maritime culture and Vetakatten for the cinnamon bun to end all cinnamon buns. For retail therapy Ostermalm is designer label country and Södermalm the Camden Market of Stockholm. In the late afternoon board the MS Silja Serenade/Symphony and sail out through the 24.000 island archipelago on passage to Stockholm. Overnight in an outside A-class cabin with a breakfast buffet.

3rd Day Helsinki
