Get 'up close and personal' with whales sailing from Andenes at the apex of the Vesteralen/Lofoten archipelago190 miles north of the Arctic Circle from a high speed RIB one day and a carvel hulled trawler the next. Proximity to the edge of the Continental Shelf means sperm whales have a deep feeding canyon with Squid, Halibut and Cod all year round, whilst in the winter Humpbacks, Fin whales and Orca migrate to feed on the herring..You'll also be smack bang in the middle of the Aurora Zone, the span of latitiude in which there are the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
On Sorgata (Andenes' main street) the Marena is a privately owned hotel with 29 rooms: twins, doubles and suites all with private shoer/WC. Everything in the hotel reflects local taste & industry: fabrics by local design Himmel og Hav, furniture from Fredheim Furniture, coffee from Strøm Eriksen, fresh baked bread from a bakery round the corner and foodstuffs from Bunnpris and on Polet på verbakkan. Rooms are on the small size and you'll have to use your suitace as a cupboard but the service and staff are big, generous and locall;y knowledge.
Fly direct to Tromso from London Gatwick, transfer by Flybuss and check in at the Hotel Edge (or simliar). The city has a plethora of resturants & bars dishing up everything from simple local grub to Rick Stein like cuisine.
After breakfast transfer out to Langnes airport for the short flight with Wideroe to Andoya at the very tip of the Vesteralen islands. Transfer to the city and check in at the Marena Hotel (or equivalent). Get your bearings in this diminutive little port and in the evening set off by snow shoe and search for the Northern Lights.
"Bleik-canyon" - a deep-sea canyon at the edge of the continental shelf which is occupied by a variety of whale species the whole year round. In just 15 - 50 minutes we can reach the whales with our RIB Boats to see up-close these intriguing animals. In order to find the whales we actively collaborate with local marine-researchers including the Norwegian Orca Survey. We also perform daily searches for whales from our local Andenes lighthouse. Through our ability to network we can accurately identify which whale species are within our proximity at any given time.
After a valedictory breakfast transfer to Andoya airport for the flight to Langnes and a change of plane for your onward flight to London Gatwick.

*Guide prices are in part based on our mid-level contract air fares which are variable in real time unlike our ground supplier contract costs which are generally fixed. We don’t do fancy lead in prices and at the time you confirm your booking always use the lowest air fare available. This may mean the confirmed price of your holiday being slightly less or more than the guide price in which case a proportionate reduction-supplement will apply. Carpe Diem = the earlier you book the better, especially for public & school holidays.
