Midgardur Hotel

Half way along Laugavegi the Miðgardur is a 20/25 minute walk from the very centre of town and the old harbour area. Very nordic in style the hotel's public areas are unusually spacious (for Reykjavik) with a lobby lounge and a garden area with outdoor hot tub enclosed within the U shaped deisgn.of the hotel. The Miðgardur Spa and Jörgensen restaurant with its focus on Nordic fusion cuisine both win plaudits on social media sites. Standard double/twin rooms are an average 17,7 m² with private WC/Shower, Mini-Bar, Telephone, TV , Free WI-FI, Safety Deposit box & Hairdryer. De Luxe rooms are 25 m² and come with a sofa, bathrobes, slippers and free admission to the Miðgarður Spa.

Foss Hotel Reykjavik

A faintly surreal exterior with slate grey tile cladding (think NASA space shuttle) the Foss Reykjavik houses some of the city's largest rooms and on the tower floor one's with the best views of Faxaloi Bay and Mount Esja. The main rooms come in at a sizeable 22sqm up to floor 7, from there to the 13th they morph into de-luxe rooms with cityscape views with 10m2 more and then on top of that (pun intended) the upper floors have a mix of family rooms and suites right up to a ginormous 59m2. All come with shower/bathtub, bathroom underfloor heating, black out blinds , flat screen TV, free WI-FI and are fitted out in Scandivavian hardwood and light blue, purple and slate grey furnishings. In the public ares there is an innovative bar cum brasserie called the Beer Garden with a 25 strong list of beers on offer and a restaurant whose breakfast is getting good reviews from TA contributors who normally do nothing more than grumble!

Hotel Odinsve

less well known than many of its contemporaries, the Ódinsvé is a hidden gem tucked away in an under heated street running down from Hallgrímskirka, just a few minutes from the city’s center. The stylish Nordic minimalism of the hotel’s public areas implies a style with warmth that the hotel more than lives up to – the guest book comments say it all. All 43 rooms are variously styled in a mix of black, white, cream, beige and chocolate and have private WC/shower, TV, mini bar, hair dryer and WI-FI.

Reykavik Marina

The Reykjavik Marina is alongside the old harbour area where many of the old fishing huts have been turned into high end restaurants.Original, colourful and modern designs characterize the hotel, combined with old relics from the harbour and shipyard. Rooms are uniquely decorated in an original manner and spread out over four floors - the thumbnail image featured here is of a superior twin room. The centrepiece of the hotel is the unique ground floor area with its Slippbarinn cocktail bar, tapas like food and cubby holed lounge area.
