Overlooking Salt Lake, the Lydmar has been remodelled by Swedish hotelier and serial entrepeneur Pelle Lydmar (Strandvägen 1, Eataly Stockholm and Archipelag Restaurant Fejan) and is owned by the Grand Hotel, whose Spa is just around the corner and available for our guests. The description boutique is perhaps over worked and a tad passé, but the architectural and design style here is best described as just that. The 47 rooms are all very different one from another with an eclectic mix of contemporary and classic fabrics, furnishings and Italian bed linen. Room amenities include flatscreen TV with international channels; minibar; free bottled water; Nespresso coffee machine with free capsules; bespoke bath products by Azzi. We like that the staff wear what they feel good in rather than a uniform, and take pride in knowing their city.
Situated in the village of Tällberg by the side of Lake Siljan the Åkerblad family owned Tällbergsgårdens Hotell has a superb restaurant, idyllic surroundings and spa treatments. Each & every one of the 32 rooms is individually decorated and has a TV, Wi-Fi and private WC & shower/bathtub: some have a terrace, fireplace and spa bath. Gourmet meals with views of Lake Siljan can be enjoyed at our in-house dinner restaurant which is open for lunch in the summer months. Coffee and drinks are served at the pub. Guests can borrow bicycles, badminton equipment and other sports facilities for free.
fly direct to Stockholm’s Arlanda airport and meet your private driver guide who will take you into the city for a night at Hotel Lydmar.
After breakfast in the hotel collect your car and drive north out of the city towards Lake Silja in Dalarna. The fastest route [3 1/4 hours] is along the E18 but the E4 allows you to visit Uppsala (stunning Cathedral and Linnaeus's gardens). Check in to the HotelTällbergsgården and take dinner at the hotel.
The hotel hosts the village's 'Mid Sommar' celebrations in its courtyard. The centrepiece of the day's events is the raising of the Maypole or Midsommarstång around mid- day and after a lunch of crayfish and pickled herring. The day then evolves informally with music, singing, dancing and various traditional games. Celebratory 4 course dinner in the hotel's restaurant.
After breakfast plan your day around the weather. Lake Silja is the centrepiece of Dalarna often referred to as Sweden in miniature because of its red painted wooden houses, forests and lakes. You can circumnavigate the lake up to Mora on the eastern side and back down on the opposite side. On Lake Runn there is a small lake cruise boat the Slussbruden (Bride of the Locks) offering a shrimp cruise.

*Guide Prices are in part based on our mid-level contract air fares which are variable in real time whereas our ground supplier contract costs are generally fixed. We don't do fancy lead in prices and at the time you confirm your booking always use the lowest air fare available. This may mean the confirmed price of your holiday being slightly less or more than the guide price in which case a proportionate reduction/supplement will apply. Carpe Diem = the earlier you book the better, especially for public & school holidays.
