All Our Sweden Holidays
The medieval Bailey circumscribing Gotland's Visby | Holidays to Sweden

Your Adventure

combines Stockholm with Gotland, Sweden's A lister island that's peppered with sand dunes, washed with azure waters and crowned with a medieval city circumscribed with crennelated walls and turrets. Visby has rose-covered cottages, towers and turrets, spires and shady arches and ‘corkscrew' cobblestone streets. In the midst of all this there are eateries dishing up saffron pancakes and owner driver cafes turning out coffee like its Hampstead on a Sunday afteroon. Outside the city's walls are mile upon mile of pale cream beaches, endless sheep pastures, vertiginous cliffs, sea stacks, picturesque fishing villages and water filled limestone quaries, one of which has earned the soubriquet 'Blue Lagoon'. And just off the island's northern tip is neighbouroing Faro with its gob smackingly austere vistas and sea stacks (they're quite a big thing here!). Botanists love to follow in Carl von Linne's footsteps, near dead rockers in Bill Haley's to Kutens Bensin (Kuten's Petrol) on Fårö and, to reinforce its A level staus, Princess Madeleine's daughter Leonore is the Duchess of Gotland! And Griff Rhys Jones in his epic midlife crisis 'To the Baltic with Bob' became a fan as did his wife & kids.

Elite Plaza

on Birger Jarlsgatan just across from Humlegården and close to Stureplan the Elite Plaza is an eclectic design mix of original 19th century features and classy contemporary ones. The bathrooms have vessels sinks, designer tiling and wet showers. There are 5 room categories with the standard category all being on the second floor and having double beds, private WC/shower, mini bar, hairdryer, safe, bathrobes & Penhaligon toiletries.

Hotel Visby

Both the Hotel Wisby itself and its immediate surrounds are redolent of medieval times, imagery and atmosphere: an entire neighborhood packed with medieval features forming the hotel. Ther's a medieval alley built into the hotel structure, columns from the 1200s and much more - all meticulously maintained and restored from the 1800's. As well as a choice of rooms with 21st century features (!) there's a hotel spa where the pool is built around a medieval column.
